Program from November 12th, 1881 Yale versus Harvard. The game was played at Hamilton Park in New Haven, Connecticut. Yale defeated Columbia 1 to 0 (an interesting fact, Yale's one goal was the result of four safeties against Harvard; in 1881 four safeties equaled one goal) on the way to a 5 - 0- 1 record and a retroactively awarded National Championship shared with Princeton. Walter Camp started at right half back in this game. The fold-over 4" x 5 1/2" program has a stunning presentation, having been stored between the pages of book with other Yale artifacts from the same era for the last 130+ years. Outside of some period writing noting scoring on the reverse, the program is incredibly clean. A great addition to a vintage football collection!
