James Alexander McCrea was the starting left guard for the Elis during his junior and senior seasons (1893 & 1894). After graduation McCrea worked in various supervisory position positions for railroad companies controlled by his father. At one point he was the manager of the Long Island Railroad. He served as a Colonel in the American Expeditionary Forces in Europe during World War I. The offered example of McCrea's N302 has been graded PSA 7 OC; this is the highest graded example and the only one at this level.
