Langdon Lea was a three time All American tackle (1894, 1895 & 1896) and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1964. "Biffy" as he was a known, was a defensive specialist; his play was described as "dashing' and "quick". He had a knack for tracking down the opponent's ball carrier. Lea was also an accomplished blocker on the offensive side of the line. Following his All American career Lea was hired to be Princeton's first official football coach in 1899. He coached Michigan in 1900 but was succeeded by another legend, Fielding Yost, in 1901. Lea worked as a coal executive following his football career. One of a handful of true football legends featured in the N302 set. The offered example of Lea has been graded PSA 7, which is the sole example at this level with none graded higher.
