Incredible piece of NFL history featuring two of the most legendary players in the game...1931 broadside touting the upcoming match-up between the Bears and the Cleveland Bulldogs (the actual team name was the Cleveland Indians; Cleveland's professional squad in the 1920's was referred to as the Bulldogs). The front of the broadside pictures Bears stars Red Grange and Bronko Nagurski. The Indians were lead by former Ohio State star Hoge Workman. The game was played at Loyola Stadium in Chicago on Friday, September 18, 1931. The Bears were victorious with Grange scoring the first touchdown of the game en route to a 21 to 0 victory. The 8 " x 11" broadside shows signs of honest wear and aging including two small tears in the top border. Otherwise this piece presents extremely well for it's almost 90 year age; especially for something designed to be tacked to a telephone pole and discarded within a few days. "Price of tickets" is written in pencil along the bottom border; potentially indicating that this might have been a pre-production proof leading to a the final version. A truly significant and historic piece of vintage NFL memorabilia.
