Extremely clean program from November 3, 1877; Yale versus Tufts. The game was played at Hamilton Park in New Haven, Connecticut. Yale defeated Tufts 1 to 0 while scoring two touchdowns (only field goals counted for points in 1877). Yale would finish with a 3-0-1 record and be retroactively awarded the National Championship for the 1877 season. Walter Camp did not play; but is penciled in on the back page of the program as a judge for the game.

The fold-over 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" program has a stunning presentation, having been stored between the pages of book with other Yale artifacts from the same era for the last 130+ years. The program has been scored and referee's and judges' names noted in pencil on the back page. One of the oldest programs we have offered.
