Robert Emmons was a four year starter at end for the Crimson. During his senior year Emmons was elected captain of the Harvard eleven, a controversial choice as many felt that Charley Brewer deserved the honor. Conflicting accounts exist of Emmon's playing ability, with some reports describing him as a steady and reliable end while others mentioned his propensity to "lose his head" during critical junctures of the games. The fact that Emmons started for four years indicates that he was probably a decent football player. Emmons worked as a banker and a broker after graduating from Harvard. He was a noted yachtsman, and served as Lieutenant Commander in the United States Naval Reserves during World War I. The offered N302 Emmons is extremely pleasing to the eye, earning a PSA 8 OC designation which still ranks it as the all time finest above the next nearest example which is a PSA 5.
