Gus Holly played three years of varsity ball for the Tigers from 1892 to 1894. Contemporary accounts described his play as "sporadic" ranging from spectacular to poor. Holly was referred to as a "heavy" man (6' 3", 195 lbs.) which provides some perspective of the average football player's size in the late 19th century. Holly began a career in real estate after graduating in 1895. He passed away from a "long illness" in 1901 at the age of 31. This example of the Holly N302, graded PSA 6, is one of two at this level with none higher.
