Incredible Pach brothers photo showing game action between Harvard’s and Yale’s freshman squads from 1890. The game was played at Jarvis Field which was one of the original athletic venues utilized by Harvard. The Harvard eleven was victorious by a score of 14 to 4; Mackie and Waters were participants in the game and would later be included in the N302 Mayo’s Cut Plug set. The 9 3/4" x 13 1/2" photo is mounted on thin cabinet style cardboard (14" x 17") which has the Pach Brothers name printed on the the lower left corner. On the cardboard above the photo "94" (likely the inventory number) and "Harvard vs. Yale" are written; beneath the photo "Jarvis Field. Nov. 29, 1890" is noted in pencil. This appears to a file copy for Pach's records or for studio use/display. The photo captures the essence of the early game and it's spectators; notably fans watching the game from horse drawn wagons and carriages.
